Focusing on human growth and development within each unique low-income community, this model has transformed traditional housing management by incorporating human services to create an integrated delivery system that hires residents for every available position. Dr. Carmen Porco’s groundbreaking model has transformed the lives of three women who have devoted their careers to the values and mission of the model. Journey of Hope: Breaking the Chains of Poverty is the third film in the Journey of Hope series. In this film, we see Rev. Dr. Carmen Porco’s Model through a much larger lens, witnessing the long-term resilience, sustainability and impact these communities have experienced. The model has reached far beyond housing and has become a way that people can remove themselves from the vicious cycle of poverty. Hearing from current and former residents, institutions that work with the model and the community at large, one is convinced that this model must be put to work on a National level.
